Location-based Collaboration amongst the citizens and the city
Master Project
Millions of Germans are stuck in traffic jams every day. The development and expansion of traffic routes cannot keep up with the continually growing demand for mobility. Same business hours of companies, rigidly defined routes of public service providers and logistics companies, construction sites, and many individual drivers add to the problem. For drivers, this means daily stress and an additional burden—the risk of accidents increases and causes other disabilities.
Scenario
Birgit Bürger has two school-age children and lives in Weststadt (Sandgrube). Her younger daughter Berta goes to the elementary school in the desert, where she is a parent council member. Her older son Boris goes to the Ratsgymnasium in the city center. She works in retail trade and commutes daily by car to the city center. The M4 line is, therefore, one of the essential transport links for the family. Any changes to the route and travel times of the M4 line affect them directly. She is very much involved in the discussion because her children must continue to reach school without long waiting times at the beginning of the day and come home after school. Furthermore, it should be avoided that the bus is overcrowded by commuters boarding beforehand.
Prototype
Citizens like Birgit Buerger can give feedback on the concrete placement of a PandR location that should be as safe, fast, and convenient as possible. The prototype enables to answer this question raised by the City in a user-friendly manner.
